She followed that passion to an art academy in Paris,
where she learned, experimented,
and began to find her own way of seeing.
She kept painting.
One work became a series.
One series led to another.
A few paintings appeared in small exhibitions.
Most were never shown.
They stayed in her studio,
stacked one behind another, seen by only a few.
Over more than thirty years,
they quietly became an archive of a life spent painting.
Now, for the first time,
these works are coming together and stepping out of the shadows.
Brought to light opens Luz’s hidden collection—a private world,
built over a lifetime, finally made visible.

When Luz lived in Indonesia, she travelled to many islands, among them Sulawesi. In Tana Toraja, in South Sulawesi, the traditional tongkonan houses are built on stilts. Standing beside them, she was drawn to the repeating rhythm of their forms, which she liked to paint.
